Speakers for 2021 Annual Session
Irene M. Iancu, BSc, RDH, CTDP
Irene Iancu graduated with a diploma in dental hygiene from Oxford college in 2007. Since then, Irene has expanded her scope of practice with procedures that include Orthodontics, Restorative Dental Hygiene (graduation 2021), Myofunctional Therapy, and advanced periodontal therapy utilizing the latest technology. As a clinician, her career path has been unconventional with experience working in pediatric dentistry for 4 years, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Cosmetic focused dental practice, and holistic dentistry.
Aside from clinical dentistry, Irene takes the stage at some of the largest dental events in the world sharing her experiences delivering motivational lectures and presentations on clinical procedures and treatment outcomes.
Irene always dreamed of owning her own practice and with that dream, Toothlife Studio was born. Celebrating 1 year in Aug of 2021 Irenes goals are simple, cultivating a positive environment for team members, stress-free and welcoming space for patients, and of course, creating a fun and engaging first dental experience for the new tiny humans who are always welcome as new patients.
Her favorite things to do when not working on teeth: Irene hosts a popular dental podcast (Tooth or Dare), writes for a variety of publications and has an awesome community on social media on her @Toothlife.Irene and @Toothlife page of fellow like-minded dental professionals eager to learn, share and save the world one tooth at a time.
Shelly Morgan Costley, RDH, MEd
Shelly has been in dentistry for over 40 years working in both general and periodontal practices. For the last 15 years she has been the First-Year Coordinator at her alma mater. She loves teaching first year students and she still likes to work in private practice with her favorite dentists when time allows.
Shelly is a lifetime member of the ADHA and served in many positions in the Utah State Dental Hygiene Association; including president of the UDHA and a delegate at the national meeting of the ADHA. She believes in supporting the only association who has our best interests at heart. Some of her favorite subjects she lectures on at the drop of a hat is the importance of oral hygiene education and keeping instruments sharp.
In her spare time, she enjoys staying at home with her husband, three poodles, five horses and an emu. If you’re ever in the area there is always an open invitation to clean out the stalls. She hasthree grown children that she is very proud of and is expecting her first grandchild on Halloweenerence.
